Immunological Factor

Immunological Factor

If common causes of infertility such as hormonal, anatomical, infectious or genetic disorders are excluded, one should also consider the influence of the immune system. Some immune disorders can prevent conception or affect the health of the mother and fetus.

  • This may include for example:
  • consequences of chronic inflammations
  • autoimmune diseases
  • allergic reactions

In the field of reproductive immunology, various examinations are performed:

  1. Examination of cellular immunity (cellular immunity, intracellular cytokines)
  2. Examination of the reproductive system (antibodies against sperm, zona pellucida, ovaries)
  3. Screening for systemic autoimmune diseases
  4. Examination of other conditions:
  • Celiac disease screening
  • Vitamin D
  • Histamine intolerance
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Thyroid gland

After evaluation of results, the immunologist physician determines the recommended treatment plan, which is subsequently consulted with the physicians at the assisted reproduction center.
