In cases where the couple has no option to use their own genetic material, a donated embryo can be the only path to the desired baby.

After a short hormonal stimulation of the uterus (the uterus is prepared for successful embryo implantation), the embryo is introduced into the recipient's uterus during a short outpatient procedure.
