Donor sperm

Donated Sperm + Partner's Eggs
(from own stimulation)

In cases where it is not possible to use the partner's sperm, the solution may be sperm donation. Donated sperm come from healthy, carefully examined donors and are donated anonymously.

Couples can request donated sperm:

  • If the partner is carrier of a genetic disease
  • If  no sperm are found in his ejaculate
  • If  the ejaculate contains sperm of low quality
How does the treatment process work?

1. In the first step, hormonal stimulation of the ovaries is performed, which helps multiple eggs to mature. This step is necessary to increase the number of eggs suitable for fertilization. Stimulation usually lasts 10 to 14 days.
2. Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries under short anesthesia. This process takes place at our center and lasts approximately 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, the woman rests and after a few hours can leave home with an escort.
3. In our modern laboratory, mature eggs are fertilized with donor sperm. The fertilized eggs are left to culture in the laboratory for several days so that quality embryos develop from them. After this period, we select the best embryos for transfer.
4. The selected embryo is placed directly into the woman's uterus. This process is painless and quick. No further hormonal stimulation is needed. Approximately 10-14 days after the embryo transfer, a blood pregnancy test is performed, which objectively confirms the success of the transfer.
